Metal and Paper

Paper is the twig you snap under foot
Metal is the branch that just won't break
Paper is the love that can tear in a second
Metal the friendship stronger than ever
Paper the bond between human nature

By Bianca Nagaiya
Black
Black is the colour of an old mysterious gravyard
Black is the colour of a cloudy dull day
Black is the colour of poison or bad luck
Black is the colour of bad moods
Black smells like the monster in my closet
Black taste like dust left upon our window sill
Black sounds like my fire alarm in the middle of the night
Black looks like dead roses
Black feels like there is no tomorrow
Black makes me feel depressed
Black is the colour of sadness

Year eights Piopio trip by Ella Mather

This term the year eight students went to Piopio. We went to many different places during our 5 day trip in Piopio and on the trip there and back. On the way there our first stop was at the Kiwi house, it was a very educational trip but nowhere near boring. We saw many native and endangered animals at the kiwi house. Once we arrived at Piopio we settled in with our billets. We woke up early the next morning, but not too early. Our first stop was at the dairy farm were we milked the cows then fed the calf’s and lambs. The we had a good feed on the milk we just milked from the cows. Our next stop was at the Mc Donald’s lime quarry. After a quick bus ride through it was time to head back to school to meet our billets and head on home. Wednesday! half way through our trip already. But no rides for us to school today because it was FARM DAY!!!!! the day were every one just stays at home and lives the country life. For me it was the day when we went horse riding, target shooting, motorcross, feeding piglets, collecting chicken eggs and the best of all sack riding!!!Thursday. We headed off to the sheep place and shore a couple sheep. Then to our next stop my personal favourite THE LLAMA FARM! it was sooooooo much fun we arrived to see 50 llamas greeting us. The male llamas were very stubborn and would not let us pat them unlike the female llamas. After llama naming time we left to go home.

No regrets, do you know what that means

It's hot it's love
We bounce to this track

I can love again tonight
We’re down to this track

Yamin's Blog NUMBER 1 on Trash To Fashion

TRASHION TO FASHION
This term everyone has been working HARD OUT on their garments for trash to fashion. We are all battling it out to win the TRASH TO FASHION MEDAL of awesomness. Topic: Kermadecs. Me and my year 7 partner Stella accepted the challenge and accomplished it with our LANDSCAPE MERMAID THINGY. We are really proud of what we have done :D. But there are some seriously good ones out there, becuase we have all taken this to the max. Some of us were chosen to go and model their outfit at the National Library closing ceremony for their kermadec exhibit. About 10 groups were chosen for this and we were one of them! :) (not to brag...). All the house groups had to weeks to finish their outfits. Now we are all nervously looking forward to the real competition where we will be judged! Good luck everybody!!!
THIS BLOGGER THING IS LIKE THE NEW FB OR TWITTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

suppys peeps

piopio

Hi. When the year 8's and I went to piopio, we did a variety of things but my favourite was the pig hunt that I went on. After about two hours, we caught a 70 pounds (lb's) and had it for dinner the next day.
Hi. When the year 8s went to pio pio we got the entire week off and wrote parodies, so everything was easy.

Tuesday, 25 September 2012

For our yearbook page this year, we thought about what we want to achieve in life and where we want to be when we are 20, 30 , 50 etc.
We had our head shot taken and we needed to draw a body that would show our goals for the future for example, author. doctor, boss, vet.

PIOPIO

Day 1:

On 10th September 2012 the year 8s from Parnell travelled by bus to a Rural Town Called Piopio. Our bus ride was around 2.5 hours long making stops at Pirongia and Otorohanga. At Otorohanga we went to the Kiwi House and learnt about Birds and we also went on the Kiwiana Hunt in Otorohanga Town. At the Kiwiana Hunt we ran around the town looking for answers to questions it may sound boring but it was actually very fun and TIRING! After the Kiwiana Hunt we headed back on the road to Piopio! We arrived at Piopio at about 2:45pm to see our Billets waiting on the field for us. After awkwardly meeting our billets we headed home either by school bus or by car. My billet Georgia usually takes the school bus so thats how we got home. We were on the bus for about 1 hour! Arriving home we had Afternoon Tea - Juice, Biscuits and a toasted cheese sandwich! YUM! After afternoon tea Georgia and I headed outside to feed Malca-Horse, Buffalo-Calf and Polly her dog. After we fed Malca, Polly and Buffalo we took Malca to the Horse Shed thing and put the saddle on her back and I hopped on for a ride. I rode Malca ( With Georgia by my side ) for about 2 hours around one side of Georgia's HUGE farm we headed back inside to find dinner ready. Dinner that night was Spagetti Bolognse.

Day 2:

6:45am Georgia and I headed outside to feed Buffalo, it was cold! Polly was running around jumping up and down in mud spraying mud EVERYWHERE! After breakfast we headed down the driveway to wait for the bus. After arriving at school the Parnell kids hopped onto another bus heading to a Dairy Farm.

That was a few days at Piopio :)

The end of the term!

The term is almost at an end.  We have almost finished Howl's Moving Castle and are looking forward to watching the movie.
The Trash to Fashion graments are looking awesome and I think we will have a spectacular show next term and we have made it very hard on the judges. I wouldn't want to pick a winner amongst them.

Thursday 6th September 2012
Post By Samuel Mang

Have you ever been thinking about your NSW Exam test results. If Not, DON'T BOTHER READING ON because THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH YOU. If so, continue reading.

Have you ever thought ' I wish I could see my test results for my New South Wales exam today' well, of course you can't see the results of the test until you get your test results right? WRONG, you can actually see your results several weeks before you actually get your test paper by going to this site:
http://www.eaa.unsw.edu.au/icas/student-results
The rest of the instructions are on this page.

P.S: Don't tell my mum about this

My speech By George Hatton

Thursday 6th September

My speech Posted by George Hatton

I think my speech was pretty good and persuasive as well. My topic was littering and why people shouldn't litter. My parents really liked my speech. I had accurate time but i didn't use any repition and I might of used about a few metaphors. In the end I didn't get into the speech finals but I was still very proud of myself. My brother (Freddy) got into the speech finals which I am proud of him. Well.... maybe next time I might be lucky.

Pi

Pi is an irrational number which means it goes on and on and on forever without repeating itself. Pi is used to calculate the area and circumference of a circle. All the digits of pi that I know: 3.14159265358979 (PS. Felix and Drason know way more digits of pi than I know). If you want to find more digits of pi, go to http://www.piday.org/million.php      Anyway, Here's the first thousand digits:

Shark Fin Soup

Wednesday 5th September 2012
By Giovanni San Jose
                                                                      SHARKS

Sharks are beatiful animals, they have survived 450,000,000 years, they control 2/3 of the planet, but they are in danger. Men kill them for their fins because the chinese people  think that they will make them more healthy, but that they do is that they cut the shark's fins and then they throw the shark alive to the ocean so it dies slowly or is eaten by other animals. This is so cruel but is a big amount of money that you win if you do that, a kilogram of shark fin costs 300 american dollars. The men kill 10,000,000 sharks every year so please don,t eat shark fin soup.

There once was a annoying duck.
Who had brought a diesel truck.
Then one day when he sang,
With a big great loud 'BANG',
he walked into sticky bombs which made him stuck

pio pio

On 10th of September year 8 students are going to pio pio for 5days.
I am really excited about going to a farm and doing the activities there.
We are going to do so many things in 5days like riding quadbikes, riding horses, shooting and much more. I think I will have a great time there.

PIOPIO

I'm very excited about going to PIOPIO, it must be very fun. I've only been to a farm once and i want to go to another one.
We have been looking at our personal journey and where we would like to go in the future.  We looked at our goals and ambitions, what would we like to do and experience in our lives. This has been an entertaining process, but sometimes it is fun to look backwards as well. Looking back over the year we have grown up and doen  so much stuff.
The mini olympics were fun. The year 8's dressed up in orange to support the Netherlands and the year 7's wore green, orange, and red to support Algeria. We all had an awesome day.

We looked at water transport in plants and learnt that the xylem transports water up and the phloem transports nutrients from photosynthesis down to the roots. We demonstrated this using food colouring and white flowers.

We made marble tracks and did a science fair.  Some of our experiments were awesome and some of them weren't that great. It was fun to have the yougner kids come down to look at what we had done.

We went the maritime musem and learnt about journeys across the ocean, we learnt how to use compasses to navigate, although if we needed to use them seriously some of us may get a bit lost.

Even dating all the way back to Wellington. This year has been one big journey.

Term 3 is half way through with a large number of events still to come.
Volleyball
Calendar art fundraising
Year 8 trip to Piopio.
Lots of exciting things in a short period of time.  We are currently reading Howl's Moving Castle by Dianna Wynne Jones to complete our study of book adaptions which we started earlier this term with Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland.
Our individual novels studies include Bridge to Terabithia, The Hobbit, Dreamhunter, The Outsiders which has resuulted in the entire class learning the dwarf rune alphabet.

I'm walking long a boardwalk path
we're all held in suspence
Leaning over this oversized salt-bath
When will the fire commence

A small metal cannon stood below us
We quickly coverd our ears
If it didn't work i would definetly cuss
As we gazed apon the piers

Then a man lit the fuse (we were real anxious now!)
Then he told us to count down from ten
When we hit one there was an ear splitting POW!
I almost forgot where I was then

I  still think about it when other thoughts go away
And that's where I find myself today.

Welcome back to term 2.

Already we have an exciting term in the works.  We have already visited the museum and explored their displays on New Zealanders involvement in various wars, and on Tuesday we paid respect to ANZAC day with a special assembly commemorating our armed services.  Coming up this term we have a visit to the marae, and the excitment of myths and legends.

Wednesday, 7 March 2012

Welcome to Room 27.  Week 6! It has come so fast we are all a little stunned,  so much to do and so little time to do it in.

We are getting bags made and writing scripts all in preparation for our trip to Wellington in a few weeks. The bags are looking awesome with some of them well on the way to being finished.  We have one more group to get through and then there will be catch up sessions to make sure everybody gets completed in time.

Yesterday we were fortunate to have a visit from some professional muisicians who with the help of some students put on a great performance of Tchouchou's Toys.  There was dancing and acting and some beautiful classical music by composed by Debussy.

Remember parents are welcome to come along and enjoy these events with us.
